Dogeared was founded by self-taught designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke in 1991. Arose from the desire to share good energy with the world, Maizel-Clarke used the positive power of her California home and started hand-making jewelry. Thanks to her "student of life" attitude, Maizel-Clarke immersed herself in all design aspects and fell in love with the creative process.

Inspired by the Californian lifestyle, Maizel-Clarke wanted pieces, with the women who like themselves could attract young associate in the heart. A bohemian mindset with a modern twist, each piece compliments. The aesthetics of its particular wearer Dogeared collections allow the consumer to experiment with different looks in creating their own vibrant, self-conscious style. All Dogeared jewels and gifts are handmade in the USA. We are committed to creating jobs in our community- beginning at Dogeared, and extending to the local artisans and vendors we partner with by sourcing our materials here in the US.

Everything we put out into the world is designed with the planet in mind. We are on a constant search for newer, more Earth friendly ways of doing business. All of our charms are hand cast in recycled sterling silver. We use recycled card stock and our boxes are made from recycled cardboard. We have incorporated repurposed leather, recycled glass, recycled saris, sustainable hemp thread, and even corn plastic into our collection. Being made in the USA means fewer miles travelled and a smaller carbon footprint. And every jewel is produced in the most environmentally responsible way possible -- by hand, in our southern California studio.
